Principle Auto is looking for an exceptional Staff Accountant to join our rapidly growing dealerships. The Staff Accountant ensures that the balance sheet and income statement are in accordance with GAAP and develops and implements processes to improve the compliance, and safeguarding of company information as related to accounting functions. The Staff Accountant will work directly with the Controller to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial transactions and postings. The Staff Accountant will also be responsible for various ad hoc reporting and implementing best practices under the direction of the Controller.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

• Prepare journal entries and perform month end close processes; assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements within the first week of each month.

• Post bank transactions daily and perform bank reconciliation monthly.

• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations monthly.

• Manage appropriate accounting processes and associated checks and balances to ensure daily, weekly, monthly and annual accounting information is accurate and correctly reflects financial position of all dealership entities, allowing senior staff to make financial decisions aligned with company objectives.

• Assist Controllers in year-end audit preparation; plan and assist with year-end review of accounting records by outside accounting firm.

• Review financial statements and ledgers, working with the accounting staff to clear up any discrepancies, as well as make suggestions for process and operational improvement

• Act as staff augmentation when required with the stated goal of ensuring timely processing and making recommendations for improvements to certain job functions and duties.

Qualifications of the Staff Accountant:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, required

• At least three years of related experience required

• Previous Automobile industry experience recommended

• Proficiency in Excel required
