Pet Paradise is looking for a Staff Accountant & Payroll Administrator to join our Corporate team.

Summary:

Our Company is currently experiencing rapid growth and we are seeking a driven, goal-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. The Staff accountant will be responsible for assisting with the bi-weekly payroll process, accounts payable, account reconciliations, automating accounting systems/processes, and maintaining fixed asset accounts. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is looking to grow their skill set with a growing company.

Payroll Functions:

  • Responsible for processing payroll biweekly for 800+ employees

  • Oversee Time & Attendance System from Paycor

  • Assist in training managers/supervisors and employees

  • Process bi-weekly payroll using Paycor

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely

  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits

  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance

  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports

  • Communicates with HR to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers, and rate changes

  • Address and respond to payroll questions from employees, supervisors, & management

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for management, finance, etc.

  • Perform other payroll requests as assigned

Payables & Accounting Function:

  • Efficiently and accurately enter and code vendor invoices

  • Reconcile accounts payable ledger between two systems

  • Reconcile GL to bank account activity

  • Update vendor records and communicate with vendors about payment instructions

  • Calculate and file monthly / quarterly sales tax returns

  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.

  • Communicate effectively with team to ensure timely financial reporting.

  • Participate in special projects as needed.

Position Requirements

  • Qualified candidate must have 2 years' experience administering payroll and 2 years' experience in accounting / bookkeeping (concurrent or separate)

  • A team player who works well with others and can work independently with little supervision

  • Proven strong customer service and relationship building skills required

  • Detailed oriented, organized person with exceptional organization and mathematical skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Trustworthy, conscientious, and able to keep information in confidence at all times

  • Able to effectively communicate with managers, supervisors, employees and outside vendors/agents

  • Strong written communication skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Job Type: Full-time

Experience:

  • Payroll: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping: 2 years (Preferred)

Education:

  • High school

  • Business or accounting degree (Preferred)
