Responsible for general ledger functions, including but not limited to, month end close, journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger research, chart of accounts maintenance and reporting. Manages the Company's accounting processes for the automated purchasing card program. Ensures accuracy and timely submission of transactions as well as resolution of discrepancies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs calculations and analysis to determine required journal entries.
Completes various balance sheet account reconciliations related to accruals, deferrals, intercompany and other accounts as assigned.
Performs month-end reporting functions, ad-hoc reporting and development of reports as needed.
Analyzes variances for assigned accounts and provides explanations.
Oversees compliance of account reconciliations and completeness of trial balance
Responsible for bi-weekly import of payroll files, reviews the accuracy of coding and proper recording in the accounting system.
Chart of account maintenance, rules and oversight
Manages the accounting process for the Company's automated purchasing card program, ensuring accuracy of coding and timely submission of transactions. Analyzes and resolves discrepancies. Provides training to new p-card holders and approvers
Posts bi-weekly expense reports to the General Ledger
Assist in other functional areas as needed and handles special projects as requested
Identifies and drives improvement opportunities and works closely with supervisor to ensure improvement opportunities are implemented to provide timely and accurate information.
Ensures compliance with internal policies and controls.
Gathers and reviews documentation for external audit.
Travel may be required on occasion for this role.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Strong analytical skills and reasoning ability is required.
Ability to identify accounting problems and generate reasonable solutions.
Experience with accounting and/or financial reporting systems.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products with advanced knowledge of excel.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
