DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements.

  • Participates in month end close, posts journal entries, analyzes actual to budget variances, performs moderately complex account analysis and bank reconciliation's.

  • Analyze financial statements and prepare explanation of the findings.

  • Responsible for closing the books in a timely manner.

  • Interact with and assist cost center managers from all functional areas.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.

  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.

  • Minimum of two years of job related experience is preferred.

  • CPA and/or public accounting experience is a plus.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent time management skills are required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Proficiency in computer spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software is required.

  • Knowledge of SAP and HFM is a plus.

MISCELLAENOUS:

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 15% of the time are required.

Job Summary:Primary responsibilities are for an accountant supporting the North America Record to Report Expense accounting team. Provides accurate and timely assistance with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis as needed. Team analyzing and processing expense related information to create journal entries, prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, perform account analysis and related duties and conduct special projects as assigned. Responsibilities: * Provides accurate and timely assistance with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations * Responsible for maintaining indirect GRNI for North America SBUs, including reconciliations of general ledger accounts * Publish weekly subledger reports on SharePoint * Review and action aged items * Publish monthly metrics on SharePoint and MDI board * Responsible for invoice accruals from several source systems, including Coupa, PeopleSoft, Oracle 11i, Oracle R12 * Responsible for maintaining Corporate unclaimed property reserve * Responsible for posting monthly entries for expense processes during the month end close for all SBUs and Corporate * Respond to internal and external audit requests * Independently work on moderately challenging projects and assignments * Analyze and suggest possible areas for productivity and process improvements Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or closely related discipline required. Accounting degree preferred. * Minimum 2 years general accounting experience required. * Strong PC skills required: Microsoft Office Suite (with Excel emphasis). * Experience with Oracle R12, Oracle 11i, Coupa, BI Reporting, Discoverer and HFM preferred. * Must be able to adapt to change, function effectively in a fast-paced, team environment. * Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively (both oral and written) and build relationships.
