The Staff Accountant is a key contributor to the accounting function for North America Services and Global Services Operations. This key player has an integral role in determining monthly results and driving process improvements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly financial close procedures relating to North America Services revenue, cost of sales, and gross margin to identify drivers of results, potential issues requiring correction, and record journal entries as needed.

  • Review global CAPEX actuals vs forecast monthly to understand results and update a 6 qtr outlook

  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts to identify issues and collaborate cross-functionally to improve processes.

  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures for the 10-Q and 10-K.

  • Provide insight as an accounting subject matter expert to support operational business teams relating to projects or ad-hoc requests.

  • Drive projects that improve the ability to analyze and report results from the financial systems.

  • Ensure SOX control program is continually reviewed, updated, and operating effectively.

  • Compile support needed for external and internal auditors.

Position supports the Accounting Manager and involves administration of municipal accounting duties as well as the completion of special assignments. Incumbent may be responsible for one or more of the following accounting functions: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Fixed Asset Accounting, budget administration and Internal Audit, which may include supervisory responsibilities for support staff. The primary functions of this position will include reconciliations, journal entries, budget administration, internal audit and financial reporting. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, benefited position. The full salary range for this position is stated above. Starting wages are negotiable and dependent on the qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. The City of Westminster offers a bonus of up to $1,500 per year depending on the employee's fluency in Spanish, Hmong, and/or Laotian. The salary range for 2019 will be $33.96 - $42.41. Administration of existing accounting processes and procedures: * Prepare general ledger account, subsidiary system, bank account, and various other reconciliations * Prepare, review, and approve budget revisions, journal entries, and various other financial transactions * Prepare special district budgets, proof City-wide budget, and calculate Tabor reserves * Prepare budgetary ordinances and resolutions for Council authorization * Track supplemental budget appropriations and contingency transfer activity * Distribute interest earnings on a monthly basis for a pooled cash and investment environment * Administer financial accounting and reporting of grant activity * Process travel expense reports * Track and administer various financial agreements * Process month-end close of City's books and perform monthly analytical review of City's financial statements * Process year-end close * Prepare work papers and financial statements for the annual financial audit * Conduct tax research on various issues throughout the year; prepare 1099s at year-end; oversee 941 quarterly and W-2 annual tax filings * Calculate funding surpluses available for re-appropriation in the new year * Administer records retention for the Accounting Division * Facilitate internal controls through administration of financial policies * Interact with internal and external customers on financial matters and initiatives 2.
