Applies principles of accounting in assigned areas of responsibility in day-to-day general accounting activities, including general ledger account reconciliations, sub-ledger reconciliations, and monthly accruals. Performs monthly general ledger closing processes, including intercompany billing, financial reporting, fixed assets, variance analysis, and follow-up for the Cincinnati business unit. Performs budgeting and forecasting tasks as necessary. Executes project work as assigned.
Monthly accounting close activities:
Prepare journal entries to record monthly transactions;
Prepare reconciling cash with bank statements and AP/AR;
Prepare intercompany billings (both USD and foreign currency);
Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger accounts (including foreign currency denominated accounts);
Maintain fixed assets and communicate with project leaders for updates;
Review, explain, and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies; and
Prepare monthly financial statement analyses.
General Ledger Reporting and Analysis
Maintain Corporate Chart of Accounts
Maintain general ledger, including new account additions and account changes;
Budget Analysis - monthly budget to actual analysis of expenses, assistance in preparation of annual budget, as necessary; and
Prepare summaries and reports for management review, including review and variance analysis for
Financial Statements for the Cincinnati business unit.
Ensure that all work is done accurately and on time;
Use various software applications, such as Infor XA (MAPICS), Infor d/EPM, Sage Fixed Asset System and Excel spreadsheets, to assemble, manipulate and/or analyze data and/or reports;
Ongoing review of processes and implementation of process improvements; and
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Specialized Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting, finance and budgeting principles, including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
Experience with accounting reconciliations and variance analyses. Ability to perform these reconciliations without significant guidance;
Computer proficiency, along with strong spreadsheet skills (preferably MS Excel, Word);
Strong accounting and query system knowledge [examples include, AS400 Accounting software (Infor MAPICS IFM), AS400 query, Vertex Sales and Use Tax software, Blackline, MAPICS analytics software (GPS), or Infor d/EPM;
Knowledge of statistical methods and application in business environments;
Ability to read, understand and follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines and hold team accountable to these standards;
Be a self-starter, detail oriented and organized and able to prioritize and balance workloads and meet strict critical deadlines along with performing under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
High motivation, readily adaptable to changing priorities, can effectively manage own time and prioritize multiple projects to ensure on-time completion;
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills and customer service skills (ability to communicate with internal and external customers);
Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements
Effective time management and work prioritization skills;
Must be able to work additional hours outside the course of the normal work day (evenings and weekends) to support department needs;
Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills; and
Creativity and receptiveness to new ideas and continuous improvement measures.
Requirements (Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands):
Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs throughout the course of the work day in a multi-location facility.
Ability to sit for long periods of time, stoop, bend, reach, twist through the course of the work day.
Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the work shift.
Ability to work on PC including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for long periods throughout the course of the work day.

Ability to travel by air/car to other locations of MBI, if needed.
