LIVunLtd is looking for a full-cycle Staff Accountant to support our Fitness Equipment & Services division. We are looking for a detail-oriented team player to complement our accounting team. To be successful in this position, you should be able to roll up your sleeves and dig into the accounting system and learn as much about the business as possible to better support the operations.
The Staff Accountant is responsible supporting the Finance Manager/Director for the overall transactions of LIVunLtd's Fitness Equipment & Services department. This includes performing general accounting transactions and reconciliations functions, including but not limited to, overhead accounts payable and credit card transactions. The Staff Accountant will liaison with other individuals in the accounting department to facilitate timely processing of payments and transactions during the month and the month end close process.
This is a full-time temp to perm position. The position is 5 days on-site at our office located in Rockville, Maryland
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare all day to day and month end transactions supporting the monthly close process and month end balances.
Prepare and record all journal entries required to accurately reflect the monthly activity.
Review monthly accounting close process Checklist including monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation of all Balance Sheet Accounts and preparation of documents to upload to LIVunLtd during Month End Close.
Record transactions by subsidiary and ensure that customer bills are paid to the correct entity and recorded to the appropriate subsidiary.
Maintain accurate records of all Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses and Tax Payments.
Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate payments and transactions.
Ensure all monthly sales tax returns are accurately prepared and submitted either by Heartline or a 3rd party.
Coordinate the preparation of annual tax returns and annual financial statement audits.
Prepare the yearly property tax returns submit along with any taxes due.
Prepare all Journal Entries and Accruals.
Accurately apply and record all charges resulting from credit card purchases. Reconciliation of the credit card purchases must be prepared in a timely manner prior to month-end close.
Prepare and maintain all account reconciliations in support of audit and tax return requirements, including cash, credit card and bank reconciliations.
Ensure the accuracy of the weekly checks payments to Non-Purchase Order customers and vendors along with making sure they have all been submitted to the bank for Positive Pay purposes.
Maintain ACH for Vendor and Customer payments once implemented.
SHARED & ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Support AP in the billing of all sales and service bills into NetSuite.
Special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycle to ensure timely and accurate reporting via SOPs.
Actively participate in all training in preparation for the transition from NetSuite to the new accounting system, WorkDay, in January 2025.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
3+ years of accounting experience
Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes
Working knowledge of GAAP
Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
Team player mentality
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Good problem-solving and time-management skills
Experience with NetSuite, Workday and bill.com a plus
