Position: Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
Role Overview: The Staff Accountant is a critical member of the accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this position focuses on supporting our accounting team with financial operations. They will be supporting with everything from journal entries and 990 filings, to preparing the month-end general ledger close activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), at least one year of practical experience in accounting, and a strong desire to learn & grow their skills.
What you'll get to do here:
Perform various balance sheet and Income Statement analyses for month-end and year-end closings.
Journal entry preparation.
Assist in the preparation of the 990 and 990T fillings.
Reconcile multiple bank accounts.
Provide support for the year-end audit.
Prepare month-end general ledger close activities including accrual, prepaid, and adjusting entries.
Assist senior accountants with all financial operations.
Respond to special projects and ad-hoc requests from the Controller and Assistant Controller.
You'll be a fit if you bring:
Bachelor's degree with a focus in accounting is preferred. At least one year of experience performing accounting functions is required.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Impeccable organization and time-management skills.
Collaborative spirit and strong communication skills.
Expert knowledge of Excel (VLookups, PivotTables etc.)
NetSuite experience is preferred but not required.
