Staff Accountant Summary:

Responsible for the maintenance of budgets, analysis of job cost activity, and preparation of variance reports. Work on loan draws, auditing escrow statements, perform periodic account reconciliation and assist in the recordation of all division level transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the timely receipt of cost and revenue data from associates.

  • Enter and update all budgets in J. D. Edwards.

  • Prepare and distribute commitment over Budget Variance Reports for review.

  • Coordinate and record timely proposed budget changes from responsible associates.

  • Review and analyze job cost activity, make budget comparisons, and report and update on variances.

  • Audit and reconciliation of all escrow statements.

  • Coordinate the timely receipt of information supporting all division level transactions and headquarters allocations.

  • Prepare the necessary journal entries to record all transactions on a timely basis.

  • Reconcile all applicable accounts periodically.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting packages.

  • Prepare backlog and Gross Margin Percentage Report.

  • Prepare bank and fixed asset reconciliation.

  • Prepare JV financial statements and variance analysis.

  • Assist in the monthly financial close process. Prepare and input journal entries.

  • Perform balance sheet account analysis and other analytical procedures as needed.

  • Prepare remote bank deposits. Manage cash balance on bank accounts and prepare wire transfer requests.

  • Assist in the compliance of the Accounting and A/P policy and procedures.

  • Prepare loan budgets and assist in the preparation of financing packages.

  • Prepare loan draws, ensuring that all possible costs are financed and drawn from existing loan commitments.

  • Review all disbursements for proper cost classification.

  • Review, code and deposit all cash receipts on a timely basis.

  • Check and monitor the processing and recordation of project commitments (contracts, change orders, purchase orders).

  • Monitor and record property tax assessments.

  • Perform special assignments as required.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years years of accounting experience required

  • Accounting Degree or candidate actively pursuing four (4) year degree required

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); J.D. Edwards experience highly desirable

  • Home Building experience preferred

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organization skills and ability to meet simultaneous deadlines

  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality relative to daily work schedule is required

  • Valid driver's license

  • Strong work ethic

  • Accept constructive feedback

  • Team player

Physical Requirements:

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office supplies and materials weighing 25 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate computer keyboard, calculator and telephone equipment. May operate a motor vehicle.
