Introduction

iRobot is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager with exposure to the Senior Manager, Accounting Operations. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process by recording journal entries and performing balance sheet reconciliations related to Cash, Prepaid Expenses and Accrued Expenses. Additionally, this role will be working closely with key business partners in these areas to ensure accuracy of information presented. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.

They will be part of a high-performing team and will be expected to lead, take ownership of their areas of responsibility and ensure accurate and timely completion of company reporting requirements. This role will provide a variety of opportunities to be visible within the company.

Responsibilities:

Key activities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation, review and posting of monthly journal entries to general ledger.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations

  • Perform monthly reconciliations of Cash accounts

  • Reconcile and record adjustments related to Prepaid Expenses

  • Record accruals related to General and Administrative activities

  • Review and analyze balance sheet and income statement information to ensure entity and consolidated level financials statements are accurate for SOX purposes and provide meaningful explanations for management review

  • Assist other team members with special projects as needed

  • Facilitate and support quarterly and annual requests from internal and external auditors

  • Critically review current accounting and reporting processes to identify ways to improve and automate

  • Ensure compliance of key accounting controls for Sarbanes Oxley purposes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

  • 1-3 years of related experience

  • Understanding of US GAAP

  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organization skills

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written

  • Willingness to respond to changing business needs of a growing company

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-02-14T00:00 <p>The <strong>COVID Eviction Legal Help Project</strong> is accepting applications for <strong>Staff Attorney&nbsp;</strong>(along with more senior supervisory attorney roles) positions to provide legal support and representation to income eligible tenants in Massachusetts facing eviction due to the impact of COVID-19. <strong>This is a grant-funded position through June 30, 2021. Extension of an additional nine months of employment beyond this date is contingent on the availability of funding.</strong></p><p><strong>ABOUT THE PROJECT</strong></p><p>The <strong>COVID Eviction Legal Help Project</strong> was formed to expand the capacity of existing legal aid organizations in Massachusetts to respond to the increased evictions with the lifting of the Massachusetts eviction moratorium. Teams of non-lawyer advocates and lawyers will be hired by local legal aid programs and guided by a supervising attorney to provide support and legal representation at different stages of the eviction process. Staff attorneys will be an integral part of this statewide initiative.</p><p><strong>SUMMARY OF THE STAFF ATTORNEY POSITION</strong></p><p>The Staff Attorney reports to a supervising attorney, and is tasked with providing legal information, assistance, and representation of tenants facing eviction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p><strong>PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ul><li>Represent tenants in eviction cases including: interviewing clients and assessing, researching, strategizing, and negotiating cases; preparing pleadings or other documents; representing clients in court, at administrative proceedings, and in other forums as necessary; and closing cases.</li><li>Completion of administrative tasks in accordance with the policies as provided.</li><li>Attend and participate in all meetings related to this project, as appropriate.</li><li>As directed, engage in community outreach activities, including presentations to stakeholders.</li><li>Work collaboratively with others on project team to promote effective communication, coordination and teamwork.</li><li>Perform other duties as needed, consistent with the provision of quality client service.</li><li>Fulfill grant requirements and obligations, including data reporting.</li></ul><p><strong>BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p><ul><li>J.D. required.</li><li>Must be admitted to the Massachusetts bar or provisionally hired pending October 2020 bar results.</li><li>Experience in landlord-tenant law strongly preferred. &bull; A demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to working with low-income people.</li><li>Strong legal writing skills, including the ability to write briefs, pleadings and other legal documents.</li><li>Strong collaborative, organizational skills and computer skills.</li><li>Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills.</li><li>Able to represent clients effectively.</li><li>Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client information.</li><li>Ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, clients, members of the bar, and the local community.</li><li>Experience working with interpreters or fluency in language(s) in addition to English preferred.</li></ul><p>Compensation, including benefits, is competitive, depending on experience.</p><p>To Apply: Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter in PDF.
