Staff Accountant, Inventory Accounting
We are searching for an experienced Staff Accountant, Inventory Accounting at 600 Citadel Drive Commerce, California, 90040.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant, Inventory Accounting reports to the Inventory Accounting Manager and is responsible for ensuring that all warehouse and store inventory related activity is recorded in accordance with company policy and procedure and in a timely manner. High visibility position with periodic reporting to the Vice President of Accounting. Prepares and maintains documentation in support of SOX controls. Responsible for managing and coordinating the periodic physical inventory schedule and ensuring that periodic physical inventory counts are being conducted appropriately at each retail grocery store in accordance with the schedule and applicable Company policies and procedures. Works with all departments to provide Inventory Accounting related analysis and assistance.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Inventory Cost Accounting:
Reconcile weekly non-perishable physical inventory balance to book balance in the inventory subledger (RMIA) and make necessary physical inventory adjustments for both banners
Upload weekly Scan Rebates information to store inventory reports within RMIA
Upload warehouse billing corrections to store inventory reports within RMIA
Review weekly RMIA interface to GL and approve for interface
Review results of physical inventory counts to identify errors or anomalies and escalate as needed
Inventory control procedures and physical inventory scheduling:
Coordinate with Store Operations, District Managers, and Store Managers as well as third party service providers to schedule stores physical inventory counts. Communicate with third party services to coordinate and align the schedules for inventory count procedures
Coordinate with IT to send weekly inventory cost files to third party services
Communicate with stores regarding store's physical inventory schedules and policy and procedures and resolve any issues
Collaborate with Store Operations to review and update policies and procedures when necessary
Accounting and period-end close
Upload journal entries
Reconcile inventory related balance sheet and income statement accounts
Prepare EAE documentation required on key SOX controls
Assist in period end closing and store margin related issues
Assist in annual and interim audits performed by external auditors
Assist/act as backup to check printing process when needed
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience, and two-three years related experience and/or training. Retail Management Certificate is desirable. Retail Management Certificate is desirable.
Candidates must possess the following skills:
Must have proficient PC skills.
Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skill required.
Prior experience working with financial applications.
