The International Fellowship of Christians & Jews has an exciting opportunity available for a skilled, resourceful, and motivated individual who would like to make a difference in the lives of others in helping a non-for-profit humanitarian organization fulfill its mission. We are presently in search of a STAFF ACCOUNTANT.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance, the Staff Accountant will complete the reconciliation, research, and correction of financial data that will support accurate financial reporting in accordance with internal control policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Reconciles all of IFCJ corporate bank accounts, with the operating account being the most complex. Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information, making recommendations to the Senior Manager of Finance, and preparing journal entries.
Prepares various general ledger reconciliations.
Assists with monthly general ledger and allocation entries. This will include but is not limited to entries to correct batch, fund, and project allocations.
Substantiates financial transactions and reports by researching and auditing documents. Distributes information and backup documents to internal stakeholders as directed.
Processes non-donor in-house deposits, stock gifts, CGA's, funds from gifts-in-kind sales, and foreign checks.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.
A Minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
Experience creating journal entries.
Experience completing bank reconciliations.
Experience performing general ledger account reconciliations.
General knowledge and understanding of auditing processes and procedures
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Intermediate to advanced skill level with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Proficiency in accounting software with the ability and willingness to learn new software and web-based programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate to a diverse audience.
Attention to detail; strong analytical and problem solving skills with strong follow-up abilities.
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks or projects with competing deadlines.
Must be self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently with minimal direction, yet not afraid to ask questions when help is needed.
Ability to establish and maintain a comprehensive and accurate record-keeping system and office procedures.
Willingness to grow in understanding of the Fellowship mission and heritage.
