GENERAL SUMMARY:

The candidate must show a high degree of professionalism, have strong interpersonal skills, and pay attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a medical accounting background. Responsible for all aspects of the accounting, and will aid leadership in accounting related tasks

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Preparation of journal entries for accounting transactions and assisting with the month-end closing activities for corporate entities
• Management of asset records and supporting documentation
• Ensuring the integrity of financial information for each separate entity
• Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
• Assisting with preparation of the budget
• Identifying variances and areas for process improvement
• Assist with supporting documentation for tax filings
• Documentation of processes and internal controls
• Other duties supporting the financial management function of the company as required

Competency Requirements

• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
• Detail-oriented and demonstrates a “can-do” positive attitude.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
• Self-starter with solid organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities or reprioritization of projects.
• Excellent communication skills-verbal and written
• Excellent skills in MS Excel and Word. Advanced knowledge in Excel understanding concepts of databases, filtering data, use of mathematical, logical, statistical and financial functions a plus.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required
• 3+ years’ experience with significant accounting responsibilities

VIEW JOBS 4/19/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-18T00:00 Job Summary Under direction, is responsible for performing professional level accounting work involving the analysis and reporting of municipal finances and other tasks related to the practices of recording, classifying, and researching financial transactions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. May exercise functional or technical supervision over assigned staff. Essential Job Functions * Assists in the review and preparation of financial reports. * Directs and provides training and support to professional and paraprofessional staff. * Monitors, evaluates, records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions. * Provides guidance to the staff in the interpretation and implementation on the City's financial accounting and reporting. * Supports staff, drafts complex accounting journal entries, and reviews completed entries. * Prepares and oversees the development of financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, and results analysis. * Coordinates and provides information and technical assistance to internal and external auditors. * Directs and responds to open record requests and leads special projects. * Analyzes and reviews financial transactions. * Reviews periodic reconciliations of general ledger, subsidiary accounts, and bank statements. * Prepares and reviews filings required by other governmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulations. * Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. * Two (2) years of experience in accounting. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience with Microsoft office. * Experience with SAP. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices. * Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of accounting including GAAP guidelines. * Knowledge of accounting related computer programs and software. * Knowledge of City and departmental policies, procedures, and administrative systems. * Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, policies, and regulations relating to the assigned area of responsibility. * Knowledge of variance analysis. * Knowledge of principles and practices of financial record keeping. * Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs. * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
