The Staff Accountant II ensures that reporting meets regulatory, GAAP, and guidelines and assists in completing various special projects involving multiple departments.Major Duties/

  • Maintains a working knowledge of current GAAP and understands accounting policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP

  • Assists in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, regulatory guidelines, and company policies

  • Ensures that reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner

  • Property, business license, and operational state tax reporting preparation

  • Identifies internal control issues and inefficiencies and makes recommendations for improvements

  • Responsible for reconciliations and booking true up entries accordingly

  • Prepares journal entries in accordance with GAAP principles

  • Manages Company risk relative to position

Job Requirements


  • B.A. or B.S., preferably in Accounting

  • 2 4 years accounting experience at a public accounting firm with financial services clients or industry experience in financial services

  • Familiarity with financial services industry accounting

  • Must be able to research accounting literature to assist in determining proper accounting treatment for financial transactions

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals including subordinate personnel are required

  • Must demonstrate strong analytical skills and be proficient in reviewing financial data

  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information

  • Must be able to utilize computer equipment and software, specifically spreadsheet applications

  • The ability to cooperate in a team environment is critical


  • Certified Public Accountant


  • Primarily located in office environment

Description Summary: The Accountant performs accounting functions for multiple hotels on a daily basis, resulting in accurate & timely financial data to the clients corporate staff, under very close supervision and review of the Accounting Supervisor. All associates are expected to do what is necessary to get the work done and to cooperate fully with their supervisors requests for additional or altered duties. * Daily bank reconciliation * Review of daily or monthly daily report journal entry * Review of payroll journal entries * Review of accounts payable for coding accuracy * Compile month end questions for client * Compile reportable events per clients schedule * Post monthly recurring entries * Expense pre-paid expenses monthly * Analytical review of income statement * Monthly preparation of financial statements * Monthly reconciliation of asset & liability accounts * Preparation & filing of sale, use, & occupancy tax returns * Other duties as assigned Education/Training/Experience: * One or more years of experience required in a directly related position * Completion of a Bachelors Degree is required with a major in Accounting.
