This position responsible for the day-to-day general ledger accounting, management reporting and analysis for assigned functional areas.
Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close.
Prepares an analysis of management reporting for financial results for assigned functional areas. Provides monthly reports and accompanying schedules analyzing variances in actual results to budget, prior periods and other as required by management.
Performs balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules.
Prepares and posts journal entries related to assigned functional areas.
Maintains the fixed asset system to insure proper recording of new purchases, disposals, and depreciation according to company policies and accounting guidelines.
Performs cash management functions including monitoring cash transactions and investigating any unusual items. Prepares bank reconciliations and resolves unreconciled items.
Maintains cost accounting system including setting up new products, making estimates for new and proposed product costs, analyzing actual manufacturing costs to standard costs, and other reports and analysis as required by management.
Ensures the company financial information is maintained in compliance with company policies and directives, government regulations, and applicable accounting standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience required. CPA a plus. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must have excellent work habits including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done in a deadline driven environment.
Expected to work with minimal guidance and take ownership of his/her work product.
Intermediate understanding of internal controls, accounting standards and guidelines.
Requires proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office. Must be highly skilled in the use of Excel and skilled in the use of Word.
Basic knowledge of accounting systems with experience using SAP preferred.
