Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing essential tasks related to the month-end accounting close of J.B. Hunt Transportation Services, Inc. (the Company) and other financial accounting related reporting, projects, and duties assigned.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliation and journal entries for assigned accounts.

  • Compiling and analyzing tax data and providing reports to management.

  • Preparing appropriate tax forms and instruments for filing with federal, state and local jurisdictions.

  • Researching and monitoring appropriate federal, state and local tax regulations and obligations.

  • Maintaining financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards.

  • Creating and utilizing automated tools for the updating, analyzing and reporting of consolidated financial results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Alteryx

  • Excellent Communication Skills

VIEW JOBS 1/15/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-14T00:00 Description In this role you will contribute to all aspects of the U.S. income tax function, from tax return preparation and ASC 740 calculations, to tax planning and audit defense. You will be joining a team of experienced tax professionals and receive numerous opportunities to enhance your skills, through both varied work experience and formal training. A successful candidate will be eager to learn and excited to join a high-functioning team. * Prepare state tax returns, and elements of the federal consolidated tax return. * Create tax provision workpapers in accordance with ASC 740. * Assist with the estimated tax payments process. * Draft responses to auditor requests, prepare appeals of unfavorable assessments, and participate in audit meetings. * Contribute to planning initiatives, primarily via research of complex tax issues. * Identify potential process improvements, and partner with Finance, Treasury, IT and other internal teams to implement new process improvements. * Assist with due diligence of acquisition targets, as well as integrating newly acquired entities. Qualifications * At least 1 year of income tax experience, OR an advanced tax related degree/professional designation (CPA, JD, LLM, MST, MSA). * Ability to learn and work independently. * Excel proficiency strongly preferred.
