The Staff Accountant I is responsible for the general accounting of the warranty programs which includes recording journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and assisting the financial analysts in researching management and auditor questions.

  • Obtain basic understanding of insurance accounting, terminology and assigned warranty programs.

  • Complete all standard journal entries to reflect business for warranty programs on a timely basis ensuring adequate support and signatures.

  • Complete all assigned account reconciliations on a timely basis ensuring account reconciling items are resolved on a timely basis.

  • Timely follow-up with various departments regarding required information to research/ resolve outstanding issues

  • Prepare wire transfer, check requests as needed to support business operations with appropriate approvals.

  • Assist in other tasks as assigned such as provide information for audit requests and to financial analysts to answer ad hoc questions on financial results.

  • Develop and maintain procedural manual outlining and detailing all of the required tasks of the position.

Qualifications

Education, Certifications and Experience: Minimum

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance

  • SA I position 2-3 years general accounting experience preferred

  • Experience in JE processing, ledger reconciliations, and general accounting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, detailed oriented

  • Strong technical accounting/problem solving skills

  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word, Experience with Peoplesoft a plus

VIEW JOBS 1/16/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-15T00:00 Duties And Responsibilities * Review sales contracts and business practices to ensure compliance with US GAAP (ASC 606) * Drive the monthly revenue cycle including the preparation of work papers and analysis to support monthly Corporate reporting. * Ensure customer billing is timely, accurate and aligns with terms of the sales contracts * Main point of contact for revenue recognition inquiries and ensuring receipt of adequate documentation. * Provide on-going support and guidance to team members related to revenue recognition. * Monitor revenue performance on regular basis and effectively explain variances * Prepare process documentation and perform controls to support audit requirements * Create, maintain, and administer accounting policies * Other responsibilities will include Accounting close and Treasury tasks EDUCATION * U.S. or International equivalent of 4-year College degree in Accounting or Finance * CPA seeking preferred Knowledge And Experience * 2-5 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role, preferably with a public company * Experience within a manufacturing or software business preferred * Working knowledge of US GAAP with an emphasis on revenue-related areas * Solid background in analyzing contracts and applying that knowledge to customer documentation * Expertise in financial reporting tools; such as, Oracle, Hyperion and Excel * Ability to work closely with stakeholders across the organization, which includes Senior Management Team, Sales, Client Services, IT and Legal departments. Must be comfortable leading informal meetings with these individuals to provide direction on revenue recognition. * Ability to work with large amounts of data and identify inconsistencies and problem areas. * A focus on continuous improvement.
