Staff Accountant

FLSA Status: Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

We are looking for an ambitious Staff Accountant to join our Online Sales team! This position is responsible for securing revenue by verifying and posting weekly sales entries and daily receipts, performing monthly close functions, and resolving discrepancies. This position will also provide support to the Housby Online Sales financial team by assisting with other various accounting tasks.

EXPECTATIONS:

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Receivables & Balance sheet

• Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts receivable, and sales data.

• Sending AR statements for used parts and transport customers.

• Post customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.

• Resolve collection issues by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line, and coordinating contact with collections department.

• Maintain customer deposits account.

Sales & Cost of sales

• Book weekly consignment sales when proceeds are approved.

• Review margins and follow up on sales not in compliance with contracts to investigate discrepancies.

• Cost accounting for used truck inventory purchases, and sale reversals for customer defaults.

Month-end duties

• Reconcile bank accounts to bank statements to ensure all bank deposits are posted.

• Verify and post various month-end department sales, and cost of sales.

• Review and reconcile customer deposits listing.

• Generate reports detailing accounts receivable status.

• Provide accounting and month-end support to the Sr. Accountant.

• Assist with scanning of accounts receivable documentation, and any other required audit trail documents.

• Research and help resolve accounting discrepancies.

Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.

Maintain a professional image at all times.

Expected to follow the Company's safety rules and safety policies.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Proven accounting experience

Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices, and collection regulations.

Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.

Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.

High accuracy and attention to detail.

Aptitude for numbers.

Excellent customer service experience and strong communication skills.

Exceptional verbal and written communications.

Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.

Strong computer skills highly desired.

EDUCATION:

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field highly preferred.

Relevant certification is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Oral communication over the phone and in person.

Ability to view a computer monitor.

Sitting for extended periods of time.

Alpha/numeric keyboarding
