Staff Accountant

Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000

Reporting To: Statutory Accounting Manager

Responsibilities:

• Journal Entries and Reporting:
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries related to insurance activities such as premiums, commissions, losses, and investment accounting.
  • Maintain an insurance activity database and generate accurate reports.
• Reconciliations:
  • Conduct thorough reconciliations for premiums receivable and investments to ensure accuracy between general ledgers and sub-ledgers.
• Fixed Asset Management:
  • Manage fixed asset sub-ledger, including tracking additions/disposals and calculating depreciation.
• Tax Filing and Compliance:
  • Maintain a comprehensive state tax filing record-keeping database.
• Financial Statements and Regulatory Filings:
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audited statutory financial statements and regular regulatory filings.
• Ad-Hoc Projects:
  • Provide support on various ad-hoc projects as required.

Computer Experience:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).
• Familiarity with modern accounting software platforms.

Experience:

• 1-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional analytical abilities.
