The Nashville Shared Services Center is looking for a qualified candidate to join the accounting staff, assuming the title of Staff Accountant. This position will focus on fixed assets and lease accounting.
Candidate must be detail-oriented, proficient in the areas of account reconciliation, problem solving, process improvement, and financial analysis. This position requires a wide range of skills, including the processing of transactions in the general ledger system, working well with others in a team atmosphere and supporting the month end closing process.
Reconcile key accounts and maintain controls over significant balance sheet accounts such as Inventory Accounts, Fixed Assets and Inter-company Accounts
Handle key Fixed Asset transactions including capital additions, disposals, transfers, retirements, and monthly depreciation
Perform routine accounting duties including account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, create and post journal entries
Responsible for gathering lease activity ensuring accurate and complete inputs into the lease accounting system - recording journal entries for all leasing activity in various currencies.
Analyze, enter, review and account for a high volume and large variety of new leases in various structures, lease amendments, renewals, terminations and other lease modifications in accordance with ASC842
Coordinate with business units to gather lease activity, resolve questions, and provide support related to lease accounting, as needed
Utilize multiple sources such as lease accounting software, business intelligence, and manual processes to prepare monthly lease accounting journal entries and reporting
Perform month end closing processes to ensure complete accounting and proper cutoff for leasing activity
Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance with 3-5 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
Fixed Asset and Lease ASC 842 knowledge
Knowledge of GAAP and proficient with fundamental accounting concepts and procedures
Strong computer skills with knowledge of Excel required to improve and streamline internal processing and reporting
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem solving, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and time management skills required
Understanding of multi-entity accounting and intra/intercompany eliminations
Customer service oriented with excellent follow up skills
Strong knowledge and understanding of journal processing, monthly/annual closing activities, allocations, etc)
Ability to perform account reconciliations of a complex nature
Ability to work well with others in a team environment
Good problem solving and process improvement skills
SAP system experience preferred
