Position summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial transactions in order to close the month end trial balance. This position will perform a variety of functions, including analyzing job-related information, reconciling general ledger accounts and assisting with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed.

Essential Responsibilities describe the major responsibilities of this position in order of importance.

  • Reviews and analyzes job cost data for accuracy prior to posting transactions.

  • Works with personnel to ensure the accuracy of the cost of goods sold and inventory valuation as stated on the financial statements.

  • Prepares journal entries and supporting documentation throughout the month and at month end.

  • Performs monthly reconciliations (including reconciling the sub-ledger to the general ledger) and uploads into the corporate reconciliation application.

  • Reviews daily transactions for proper approvals and posting.

  • Supports and assists plant accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Invoicing.

  • Provides support for external and internal audits.

  • Perform various tasks and projects as assigned.

Requirements -

  • Solid working knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques, and principles.

  • Skill in analyzing and interpreting financial data with independent judgment and accuracy in working with large amounts of data.

  • Ability to perform duties in an organized and efficient manner in order to meet required deadlines.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to prioritize independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervisor intervention.

  • A dedicated and focused work ethic.

  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks and work well under pressure with shifting deadlines.

  • Ability to work well with others as a team member.

  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, confidentially, and effectively with others in person and in writing.

  • Effectively gives and receives feedback.

Education or Experience:

  • 2 years or more of related experience.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or another related field.

  • ERP systems experience a plus.
