JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant, Clinical Research, primarily focuses on collections and streamlining general accounting and contract-related processes. The Staff Accountant also maintains financial records and ensures financial transactions are properly recorded.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Manage/record deposits received using multiple tools and spreadsheets.

  • Create and maintain reports in excel spreadsheets/various accounting tools to keep track of transactions and changes.

  • Compare customers' budget against invoices created in the system.

  • Compare patient's visits to the trackers.

  • Record all the revenues that are reported in the current month by creating invoices that correspond to sponsors' budgets and procedures performed.

  • Solidify the contract/budget review.

  • Respond to inquiries and resolve both internal and external issues.

  • Enhance and streamline processes in the Finance department.

  • Ad-hoc projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to gather and analyze financial data/reports via spreadsheets required; experience with tools such as Crio, QuickBooks preferred.

  • Ability to apply financial guidelines and procedures that provide adequate financial compliance and control.

  • Ability to handle escalated customer issues with professionalism and empathy.

  • Critical thinking, analytic and problem-solving skills along with an ability to make recommendations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to meet a constant stream of assignment deadlines.

  • Aptitude to improve processes through automation and streamlining.

  • Knowledge of business management and fiscal practices.

  • Able to independently make decisions with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2- 5 years of relevant Accounting experience.

PHYSICAL WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

The position involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, extensive computer use, and phone interaction. Additionally, the role may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds for office supplies or equipment.
