Position: Staff Accountant

Job Description

Scope

To maintain GAAP accounting standards for the Christian Academy School System.    

Qualifications

The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:

• A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit

• A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school

• Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy

• Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind

The ideal candidate must have:

• An Associate or Bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in accounting

• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

• Experience with an automated accounting system

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

• An extensive knowledge of Excel/Sheets and Word/Docs

• Ability to manage workload to meet multiple concurrent deadlines

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Ability to carry out duties in a confidential manner

• Strong analytical skills   

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Director of Finance to maintain GAAP accounting for non-profits

• Input monthly Journal Entries for the school system

• Work alongside the Director of Finance during the annual audit

• Assist Director of Finance with annual 990 tax returns

• Oversight and analysis of general ledger

• Manage credit card processing systems

• Special projects as assigned throughout the school year

Reporting Relationship

The Staff Accountant is responsible to the Director of Finance.
