The Staff Accountant- Capital Project and Asset Management responsible for analysis and accounting of capital project transactions and the related fixed assets; preparation and review of journal entries; balance sheet account reconciliations including any additional quarterly and year end reporting; ownership of policies and procedures related to capital project and capital assets accounting. Compliance with SOX requirements, and additional ad-hoc analysis as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analysis and accounting of capital project transactions and capital assets

  • On-going evaluation of controls (SOX) around capital projects, capital assets, intangibles, deferred assets and property taxes

  • Preparation of reports for various internal and external reporting groups including the EPR relationship for Northstar as it pertains to open capital projects

  • Interface with joint venture accounting group and controllers at various ventures relative to capital asset information and special projects

  • Preparation and review of various journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations - ensuring timely recording of activity

  • Preparation of monthly CIP recap schedules for Director review.

  • Maintaining proactive involvement with operational personnel regarding Capital Projects and related assets.

  • Administer & maintain the Docusign process for capital projects

  • Administer & maintain the Fixed Asset Sharepoint site & Smartsheet calendar

  • Adhoc analysis of large data sets and related report design

  • Preparation of audit support for the Property Plant & Equipment section of the audited statements for the GTLC & Flagg Ranch Audits.

  • Interface with internal and external auditors to provide supporting schedules and selected documentation for quarterly calendar year audits.

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum two years experience in an Accounting or Finance position

  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Corporate Financial Systems (PeopleSoft-specific preferred)

  • Strong analytical skills & system conversion experience desireable

  • Strong communiaction, interpersonal, & customer service skills

Position Description The Project Accountant will assist the finance team with various accounting duties including, but not limited to; Month end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Responsibilities * Assist with Month End close * Journal Entry Preparation and Entry * Account Reconciliations pertaining to various accounts related to Capex (assets & liabilities) * Project Accounting-setting up and maintaining project codes in SalesForce and Great Plains * Fixed assets/construction in process management-evaluating project for closing and reporting that information to Fixed Asset team on a monthly basis * Develop and implement projects and programs to assist in the accomplishment of established goals * Other duties as needed Qualifications * College Degree in accounting with 0-2 years relevant accounting experience * Experience with Great Plains Dynamics systems a plus.
