Responsibilities and Qualifications

Position Description:

The DSC Staff Accountant will be responsible for coding all DSC invoices and submitting to accounts payable for processing. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, establishing and monitoring accruals, ensuring amounts are expensed in the appropriate period in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards ("GAAP") and company policy; working with DSC department heads and vendors to reconcile and resolve billing related issues, and processing journal entries between DSC and Dealerships

Essential Requirements:

  • Understanding of GAAP

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Solid understanding of the Accounts Payable Function

  • Strong communication skills with internal and external customers

  • Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team

  • Desire to own and improve processes

  • Understanding of fixed assets accounting

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Determining the appropriate accounting treatment for purchase orders/invoices (expense versus capitalization)

  • Coding of invoices in an accurate and timely manner

  • Obtaining appropriate approvals for payments

  • Ensuring timely posting of invoices in the accounting system

  • Investigating and resolving billing discrepancies, corresponding with vendors

  • Updating and reviewing models/templates for each consolidated invoice

  • Working with Controller/FP&A to ensure new payments are correctly coded

  • Maintaining monthly recurring payments log and ensuring vendors paid within terms

  • Reconciling key vendor statements

  • Verifying accuracy and validity of sales tax, setting up an accrual for used tax payable where appropriate

  • Preparing mid and end of month intercompany statements and accrual entries

  • Posting journal entries between DSC and Dealerships as assigned

  • Serve as the backup fixed asset accountant

  • Other tasks as assigned

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Accounting degree

  • 3 - 5 years of work experience

  • Detail oriented, team player, and excellent time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to comfortably interact with vendors and department heads

  • Vendor relations, AP experience, Purchasing experience a plus

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
