Overview

AmTrust Financial, a multinational property and casualty insurer, is currently hiring a staff accountant in Lakewood, Colorado. In this role you will

Assist in the financial close for Heritage Indemnity Company, Westlake Insurance Company and AMT Home Protection, including analysis and reporting. Oversee dealer captive reinsurance portfolio and off-shore legal entity reporting. Develop and maintain spreadsheets for captive insurance reporting and cash flow reporting. Assist in annual external audits and preparation of regulatory annual statements.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of Accounting, including but not limited to the following:

  • Preparation of journal entries

  • Preparation of check requests, including dealer invoice processing

  • Monthly dealer funding; including reconciliation, analysis and research between RAPTR and GL, and funds transfer requests

  • Monthly Cash analysis, transfers and reconciliations; ensuring all activity is reconciled to supporting documentation from partners

  • Maintenance of Cash roll forward of pooled custody account including allocations and unitization.

  • Prepare and analyze the Recapture accounting for the Westlake recapture of dealer captive companies including determination, establishment and amortization of any deferred

  • Entries into the RAPTR database

  • Ad hoc research and analysis

  • Projects as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Degreed Accountant, being a CPA is a plus.

  • Minimum of two-four years of experience in a traditional accounting department

  • Must be comfortable working independently and as a part of a team and be able to communicate with all levels of management.

  • Good computer skills, proficient with MS Office (excel, word, creating excel macros and lookups, etc.) Proficient with MS Access is a plus. Good written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Good understanding of accounting standards, financial concepts and tools.

  • Analytical with the ability to deal with ambiguity and have very detail oriented skills.

This person will be responsible for ensuring accurate recording of all revenue-related transactions and compliance of such transactions as they relate to client contractual agreements and SOX guidelines. The Senior Revenue Accountant will also assist with monthly and quarterly revenue reporting and analysis, inter-departmental revenue support and client/third party/internal audit support. This position will contribute to the timely closing of the accounting records on a monthly basis and preparation of key reports and analysis. Responsibilities: * Accounting for unearned and accrued revenue, including the related balance sheet reconciliations. * Create and review employee hours reporting. Communicate with Department Managers or Account Directors regarding variances to provide valuable analysis. * Manage internal budgets including the preparation of monthly accounting entries, forecasts and analysis of results. * Contribute to accurate and timely month end closing by ensuring that all general entries have been entered and all accounts have been reconciled to ensure completeness and accuracy of transactions. Create accrual journal entries as necessary. Update and post all standard journal entries prior to preliminary financial statement preparation. * Manage special projects for the finance department as needed. This includes ad hoc requests from within the agency, corporate accounting and our parent company. This position requires meeting deadlines, maximizing efficiency, maintaining accuracy, and confidentiality of the financial data. Actively participate in the finance team to ensure excellent Team Health.
