Accountemps currently has a short term temporary position open for an experienced, organized Staff Accountant at a dynamic, growing organization. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will promote the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Berlin, Connecticut region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. What you get to do every day

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

  • Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls under SOX accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

  • Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

  • Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision

  • Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner

  • Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Requirements

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to meet deadlines - experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Command of account reconciliation

  • Solid understanding of account analysis

  • Experience with ERP systems

VIEW JOBS 10/12/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-10T00:00 Job Description Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant on the Financial Reporting team will work in a collaborative group responsible for preparation of SEC reports, including the annual report on Form 10-K and the Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q, and other audited financial statements. The Senior Accountant will collect and analyze financial data, prepare work-papers, and review work-papers supporting financial statement disclosures, ensuring all reporting is in compliance with GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements. The Senior Accountant collaborates with other functional groups and obtains the information necessary to draft the appropriate language for footnotes, MD&A and other critical disclosures in the 10-K and 10-Q. The Senior Accountant will research and interpret complex GAAP accounting standards and complicated new transactions entered into by the Company and document accounting positions, as well as participate in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements or SEC rules and regulations. * Preparation and/or review of ad hoc reporting deliverables. * Keeping current on new GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. * Review XBRL instance documents, and special projects as necessary. * Works closely with various departments throughout the organization, including SEC legal counsel and investor relations, to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting matters. Technical Knowledge/Skills: Experience in an SEC reporting company, including work in Financial Reporting and Research areas highly preferred. Knowledge of SEC regulations, FASB standards and GAAP affecting accounting and financial reporting required. Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 302 disclosure controls and procedures surrounding the SEC reporting process required. Strong research and analytical skills, exceptional written communication skills of highly technical subject matter, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required. Proficiency with MS Office applications required. Experience with Workiva Wdesk and HFM consolidation application highly preferred. Experience with Eversource financial and reporting systems preferred. Excellent spoken communication, judgment, adaptability/flexibility and teamwork skills are necessary. Must possess the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously along with a high degree of initiative and ownership in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work effectively under pressure due to inflexible deadlines mandated by outside parties and rapidly changing conditions and/or requirements. Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting. An MBA is desirable, and CPA designation is preferred. Experience: A minimum of five (5) to (7) seven years of related work experience is required with at least 4 of those years in a Big Four or regional public accounting firm highly preferred.
