The Salaried Professional Service area of Accountemps is seeking a full time Staff Accountant As Staff Accountant, your duties will include preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A great deal of time in this position will be spent producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. And during the monthly close, your responsibilities will also cover various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, your responsibilities include communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and reviewing schedules for the reporting processes. What you get to do every single day

  • Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

  • Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

  • Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Partake in annual closing processes

  • Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

Requirements

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • 5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Proficient in ERP systems

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • High attention to detail

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proven knowledge of costing

  • Reporting experience

  • Practical knowledge of inventory

  • Quality experience with inventory analysis

  • Comprehensive knowledge of data entry

  • Expertise in numeric data entry

  • Deep understanding of financial reporting

  • Inventory planning reporting experience

  • Well-founded grasp of Microsoft Excel

  • General familiarity with journal entries

Reconcile financial documents, records transactions, and statements such as warehouse reports, purchase orders and payments to ensure conformance with established standards. Prepares financial statements and reports, maintains accounts and records such as weekly budget reports and encumbrance/payment logs; maintain account records in the open file and monitors this file on a daily basis to ensure receiving of goods and services in a timely manner. Responsibilities include, purchasing commodities and paying invoices for assigned institutions/divisions through the preparation and input of MMARS documents; interact with approved vendors/institutional staff in response to inquiries pertaining to purchasing and payments; provides technical assistance to various institutional and division staff to ensure compliance with agency laws, rules and regulations; other duties as assigned or required by the Unit (i.e. typing, filing, faxing, drafting forms, memos, telephone coverage, etc.). * The DOC urges bilingual applicants to apply. Substitutions: I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management may be substituted for the required (A) experience.* II. Successfully completed education in accounting or business administration in a recognized business school or school of accounting may be substituted for the required (A) experience on the basis of one year of such education above the high school level for six months of the required (A) experience.* * Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
