Accountemps is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with terrific organizational skills to take up a long term temporary-to-fulltime position at a growing company in the Non-Profit industry. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Your responsibilities in this role

  • Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision

  • Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls under SOX accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

Requirements

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledgeable of ERP systems

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast paced environment

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Solid understanding of accounts receivable
