Accountemps is on the look-out for an organized individual with accounting chops to join a growing Professional Services organization in the long term temporary-to-fulltime role of Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the El Paso, Texas region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. Your responsibilities in this role

  • Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner

  • Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision

  • Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management

  • Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

  • Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process

Requirements

  • 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Account reconciliation experience highly valued

  • Comprehension of individual taxes

  • Demonstrated knowledge of bank reconciliations

  • Background working with financial auditing

  • Earlier work involving general ledger

  • Month end closings experience desired

  • Corporate tax experience highly preferred

  • Practical knowledge of accounts payable

  • Experience with partnership taxes

  • Command of accounts receivable

  • Financial statement preparation experience highly desired

  • General familiarity with QuickBooks

  • Previous experience working with account analysis

  • Proficiency in trial balance

  • Good understanding of journal entries

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Excel

  • Hands-on experience with year end closings

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

What You'll Be Doing: * Preparing general ledger journal entries, schedules and analysis in accordance with GAAP for month-end close. * Assisting in the preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including budget vs. actual variance reports. * Assisting in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances. * Performing and reviewing corporate account reconciliations. * Assisting external reporting with schedules for 10Q and 10K filings. * Assisting with internal and external audit requirements. * Assisting with the external audit by preparing requested schedules, as well as complying with SOX requirements. * Assisting the Corporate Accounting Manager in special accounting projects. * Oversee the work of junior accounting staff. Requirements for Consideration: * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant field. * 3+ years relevant work experience in accounting or finance. * CPA or CPA candidate preferred. * Experience with Oracle platforms and/or other accounting applications. * Experience using the following applications is preferred: Oracle Enterprise Performance Management, Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Financial Reporting & Enterprise Resource Management, Hyperion Financial Management, and Hyperion Essbase. * Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement. * Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Outlook. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent oral and written English communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal skills. * Strong attention to detail and highly organized. * Ability to interact with various levels of management. * Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment. * A strong aptitude for building a culture of trust, integrity and performance. * Desire to make a true impact on the organization through expanded eCommerce strategies. * Desire to bring ideas to a dynamic international organization. * Thrive in a fast-paced environment. * Applicants must be eligible to work full-time in the United States.
