About You

We are looking for a Staff Accountant for our Chicago office. The Individual filling this position will report to the Corporate Controller and handle a wide range of accounting duties.

You'll be responsible to:

  • Ensure company financials are prepared accurately and on time; coordinate with our Accounting Supervisor, AP and AR managers to close the books each month

  • Calculate and issue financial and operating reports and metrics

  • Own 3Q's management accounting and help ensure accordance with US GAAP

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Report variances from the budget and previous months and investigate drivers

  • Ensure tax, audit and accounting compliance

  • Coordinate with the company's Finance Management team and Tax Accountant to ensure timely and accurate corporate tax filings

  • Work with the company's auditors to ensure timely and favorable audit results

  • Assist on ad-hoc projects, including potential merger and acquisition related activities

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, tax, audit and legal regulations

  • 3+ years as an accountant

  • CPA certification is a plus

This person will perform day-to-day processing of financial transactions to ensure that finances are maintained in an effective, up-to-date, and accurate manner. Responsibilities * Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and other financial reports to assess accuracy and conformance to reporting and procedural standards * Drive the monthly revenue close process, including deferred revenue, revenue accruals, prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue and inventory reporting, and flux analyses * Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities related to revenue and inventory * Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions * Determine monthly accruals for unbilled revenue and cost of sales per internal accounting policies * Ensure accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and year-end close related to revenue and inventory * Assist in the improvement of the revenue and inventory processes * Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses * Partner with various stakeholders throughout the organization to compile data used during the month end close process * Assist in internal and external audits Requirements * 0-2+ years related work experience * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required * Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles * Proven ability to professionally drive change and process * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong background in Microsoft Office; Excel skills (v-Lookup, pivot tables, etc.) and excellent command with excel and manipulating large data sets is a must. * Experience excelling within fast paced, high energy environments #LI-BH1 Innerworkings Chicago IL
