Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
These positions are located in Carson City, within the Structures Division, Bridge Inspection Section. This announcement will be used to fill multiple positions.
The incumbents will perform federally required bridge and tunnel safety inspections, bridge and tunnel inventory, initial inspections, and preliminary data collection duties for all new bridge and tunnel structures statewide. In addition, the incumbents will assist in the management of Nevada's bridge and tunnel inventory data as well as the dissemination of said data to various bridge and tunnel owners and to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as well as serve as assistant inspector to the bridge and tunnel inspection team leaders. NOTE: THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL STAFF II, ASSOCIATE ENGINEER POSITIONS.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
