SUMMARY: The Stacker Quality Technician is responsible for the quality of the material at the end of each line (Coater or Print). They inspect sheets at a pre-set interval and apply the quality checks based on the material or job being run.

Their secondary responsibilities include helping the Coater Operator with Washup / Change Overs, setting up and operating the automatic Stacker, restacking material, prepare coated metal for transport, and Hold For Inspection Quality Inspections. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect coated and / or printed sheets for any defects. (28 Defect Training required before full certification). Performing quality checks or tests based on the job requirement or supervisor instructions. Some defects include scratches, dents, bad lithography and/or defects in the margin.

  • Assist Coater Operator in Coater wash-up and Change Over Processes.

  • Setup and operate automatic Stacker at the end of the coating line or printing line

  • Accurately complete all necessary inspection forms and required documentation (Example ICC-500)

  • Use equipment such as automatic stackers, bundle turners, and a variety of hand tools

  • Handle coatings and wash-up solvents

  • Strap and wrap loads of metal for safe removal

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the Stacker work area

  • Report and document machine malfunctions to supervisor

  • Lubricate equipment as directed or required

  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as determined by Supervisor, Coater Operator, Press Operator

  • Inspect Sheets in the Hold For Inspection (HFI) area as required / scheduled by supervisor

  • Travel is required as needed for this position

  • Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs

  • Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws

  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Will handle loads of metal weighing approximately 4,000 pounds on conveyors.
