St. Joseph Center of Arkansas VISTA Member

St. Joseph Center of Arkansas (SJCA or SJ) seeks to 1) become a self-sustaining farm in order to help address issues of food security for under-served populations; 2) provide classroom and hands-on education for children and adults in all phases of food/livestock production so they can help themselves with food security, and 3) preserve and restore the 63-acre farm and 56,000-SF historical building as a symbol of our commitment to serve families and children who need our help.

St.

Joseph Center (SJCA) has operated since 2009 as a primarily volunteer-run organization. In order to develop revenue streams to help support our mission and programming, additional staff and administrative help is needed. Capacity building in the areas of marketing, development, and communication are critical to the operation.

We currently do not have sufficient resources to be effective. A VISTA would greatly enhance SJCA's ability to forge an active presence in the community it seeks to serve. Specifically, a VISTA will contribute to 1) communicating and promoting available programs, 2) recruiting and tracking volunteers, and 3) increasing the donor base in order to have greater impact in addressing community needs. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.

Member Duties : The Development and Marketing VISTA member will craft a plan to communicate and promote the resources available at SJCA, help identify key stake-holders and be responsible for the development and maintenance of a data base used for communication and outreach. assist with SJCA's social media presence, update of the organization's website, and produce a regular e-newsletter. Manuals to track volunteers and donor information will be created with instructions on how to maintain and update this data. The VISTA will have the opportunity to coordinate with Full Circle FarmCorps (an AmeriCorps program founded and housed at SJCA) in their efforts to provide a garden-based cooking and nutrition program, "Growing My Plate", by helping identify potential participants and promotion of this opportunity to the community.

Program Benefits : Housing , Training , Relocation Allowance , Childcare assistance if eligible , Education award upon successful completion of service , Health Coverage* , Living Allowance .

Terms :

Permits working at another job during off hours , Permits attendance at school during off hours , Car recommended .

Service Areas :

Health , Hunger , Community Outreach , Education , Environment .
