Overview

The next generation fast attack submarine (SSNX) engineering team is in need of Systems Engineers. The SSNX Team has openings for highly motivated engineers to support the development of a new electric plant design for the next class of submarines. The group is in the process of developing a new cost-effective, power dense, electric plant architecture that utilizes the latest technologies. The immediate focus is the evaluation of different electric plant and propulsion systems that will culminate into a recommendation to Naval Reactors (NR) in 2024 identifying the best propulsion plant (electric drive, hybrid drive, or mechanical drive) based on cost, size, and technical superiority.

Responsibilities include propulsion plant and electric plant systems and component evaluations. Other responsibilities include the evaluation and development of requirements to develop propulsion, electric, steam and reactor plant systems. Candidates will function as a project engineer overseeing all aspects of engineering tasks including overall technical quality, work in a team environment; maintain schedules, interfacing with design and other engineering organization and disciplines.

Newly hired personnel will be assigned a mentor to assist in learning the roles and responsibilities of a systems engineer.
