As an SSD Customer Validation Engineer in the Manufacturing Development R&D group at Micron Technology, Inc. you will be responsible for the development of enterprise and cloud data center SSD's and will host enterprise and data center customer validation teams to enable selection and qualification of Micron SSD's. Additionally, the SSD Customer Validation Engineer will have the following duties:

  • Work with Applications/Marketing to stay up-to-date on OEM system requirements and test software;

  • Develop and design test plans to evaluate drive functionality in a system environment;

  • Evaluate existing test plans against OEM specifications, RMAs, and Customer feedback to improve test coverage and efficiency;

  • Identify and/or develop test tools to enable failure analysis and improve testability;

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest customer systems and applications;

  • Perform product testing to evaluate and support new product development;

  • System level and drive level debugging using software programs, oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, and other diagnostic tools;

  • Install, modify and debug issues in a DOS, Windows, Linux, and Mac OS environment;

  • Drive issues to closure by interfacing/collaborating with other product development teams;

  • Provide technical support (e.g. failure analysis, questions, etc.) to any internal or external; customer as part of product development;

  • Provide technical knowledge and feedback to the SATA, SAS, and PCIe specifications;

  • Support customer and internal audits;

  • Follow established policies and procedures;

  • Recognize and resolve safety or environmental issues, including assistance to develop appropriate procedures and documentation;

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or experience with System Level Debugging using bus analyzers

  • Knowledge or experience with SATA Protocol.

  • Knowledge or experience with SAS Protocol.

  • Knowledge or experience with NVMe Protocol.

  • Knowledge or experience with Linux Environment.

  • Knowledge or experience with installing and debugging issues in a Windows Environment.

  • Knowledge or experience with Hadoop Applications.

  • Knowledge or experience with Ceph Applications.

  • Knowledge or experience with SSD Failure Analysis.

  • Knowledge or experience with SSD Log Analysis.

  • Knowledge or experience with Test Script Automation.

  • Knowledge or experience with C/C++ programming.

  • Knowledge or experience with Python.

  • Knowledge or experience with SSD Test Validation Processes.

  • Knowledge or experience with OEM System Requirements.

Work Location: 1900 Pike Road, Suite D, Longmont, CO 80501

Hours of work: Usually 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Degree Required: MS or equivalent foreign education

Minimum Qualifications: * Storage industry experience developing embedded FW solutions. * Knowledge or experience debugging issues in firmware. * Working knowledge of SATA or PCIe interface protocol with associated tools. * Proficiency in Python/Perl/Shell script programming. * Proficiency in using bus analyzers, oscilloscopes or other HW debugging tools. * Good customer presentation skills, effective collaboration with issue resolution skills. * Team player, ambitious and self-starter. * Desire to learn new SSD technology. * Proficiency in C/C++ programming. * Proficiency using Linux OS and Windows OS. * Must be willing to work evenings and weekends, if necessary. * Domestic and international travel is not frequent but, may be occasionally required.
