Situational Response Team-Behavioral Assistant/Teacher's Aide (SRT-BA/TAs)
The team is comprised of experienced individuals to supplement staff in our residential, in community, home care, schools and developmental disabilities programs throughout the agency. We are seeking SRT BA/TAs to work a ten (10) month school year at our George Washington School (GWS) located in Hackensack, NJ. SRT BA/TAs will provide coverage at our Northern NJ programs when school is not in session.
SRT/BA/TA's will be expected to provide positive support, caring assistance and responsible supervision. This position is expected to require a unique sensitivity on the part of the applicants to recognize and appropriately respond to clients who may have evidenced difficulties.
GWS handles special education students ranging from 5-15 years of age. The primary purpose of this position is to serve in a dual capacity by:
Assisting school with all aspects of classroom responsibilities and supervision of students during the school day. School hours are 8:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m. Mon-Fri.
Providing quality daily care and supervision of students
Assisting with learning centers and any other designated classroom activities with the supervision of the Teacher
Staff will be expected to assist the students' development and trust in adults, through the use of positive reinforcement and praise.
Attend all school in-services and professional development
When school is not in session, SRT BA/TAs will be expected to provide positive support, caring assistance, and responsible supervision to all assigned clients in all of our programs
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have a valid driver's license
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
3+ years of experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health agency or institutional setting/group setting required.
DDD relevant experience and/or personal knowledge of developmental disabilities preferred
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm; Varies when school is not in session
All new hires are required to attend a 6 day orientation: Monday through Monday 8:45am-4:00pm, upon hire.
