Job Summary

The primary focus of the position is our Marriott Full Service- Core Brands Delta, Marriott Gaylord and Sheraton hotels.

On a project / tactical level, the successful candidate for this position provides design quality assurance and design management services and manages all aspects of franchised, managed, or corporate projects for new construction, conversion, or adaptive re-use. This individual has a passion for hospitality design and is able to inspire internal and external participants to create design solutions that thrill guests and align with brand strategy.   • Manage Core brand projects from inception to completion.

  • May supervise, direct, motivate and train assigned staff.

  • Manage internal team and external design consultants, ensuring timely delivery of project objectives.

  • Responsible for documenting, maintaining, administering and improving the processes for delivering services.

  • Convey the importance of the brand and design during project negotiations with external clients.

  • Provide information, interpretation and guidance to outside owners/franchisees as well as internal stakeholders for adapting brand standards to specific projects.

  • Participate in site visits and surveys to develop better understanding of site specifics and / market demands.

  • Update internal Tracking Software on a regular basis and update Supervisor on a regular basis

  • Contribute to the creation and management of the project budget.

  • Represent Marriott Global Design team at project initiation and design meetings.

Manages in defining program requirements through generating Facilities Programs, review of Feasibility Packages and establishes design parameters based on brand standard requirements.

  • Review project design integrity and its compliance with design standards and provide constructive feedback to project designers.

  • Assists with the development of Prototypical Drawing Package

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, interior design and engineering and mechanical drawings

  • Expert at juggling multiple projects at different stages of development

  • High competency in prioritizing workloads and project deadlines

  • Customer service skills

  • Strategic thinking relative to the business development plans

  • Proficient in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and project management software is required. Skills in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and Sketchup are desired but not required.

  • Knowledgeable about innovation & trends both in & outside of industry


  • 5-Year undergraduate degree in Architecture or preferred.

  • Minimum 8 years progressive experience in architecture at a design firm for large commercial or hospitality projects.

  • Architectural license preferred.

  • Certified Project Management Professional desired but not required

This position serves as an integral member of the project team working to deliver complex design-build projects nationwide. The Design Manager / Sr. Design Manager serves as the primary team lead through the design development phase of the project. Key responsibilities include: * Ultimately responsible for design deliverables through the design process * Actively lead an integrated design-build team and regularly interface with the client, designers and trade partners * Successfully deliver high quality design on budget and on schedule * Ensure that design meets contractual obligations and program requirements * Lead stakeholder decision meetings, design progress meetings, and design conferences * Organize the design review process and lead resolution to all comments * Lead collaboration both internally with cost manager and purchasing agent and externally with key project stakeholders * Manage design issue resolution in real-time * Participate in bid submissions and the development of RFP and RFQ responses including providing strategic insights to pursuit strategy Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field * 4-8 years of relevant work experience, preferably with design-build experience * Qualified experience may include work as a development manager, design manager, project manager, or design professional; experience managing project staff is preferred * Must have strong interest in construction general contracting and in the design-build delivery process * Understanding of how to execute successful Design-Build projects * Basic understanding of BIM modeling, a plus working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit * Preferred membership in DBIA or other industry associations Skills & Abilities: * Strong knowledge of design and cost management principles and practices * Clear understanding of integrated design and construction schedules * Appreciation and understanding of architecture firms' business model, design principles and process * Ability to lead a collaborative design process with various stakeholders * Strong leadership, communication and relationship-management skills * Ability to train, manage and influence several direct reports * Ability to motivate and collaborate with peers working at other firms * Ability to work with and present to executive leadership * Ability to participate in pursuit efforts for design-build projects * Self-motivated, organized team player with ability to manage work priorities in a fast-paced environment * Ability to develop and maintain a collaborative, creative work environment and influence othe rs #LI-LG1-CK Clark Construction Group, LLC, (subsidiaries and affiliates) is an equal employment opportunity ("EEO") employer.
