JOB TITLE: Senior or Lead Treasury Analyst

PAY RANGE: Sr Treasury Analyst: $64,100 - $85,500

Lead Treasury Analyst: $75,800 - $101,000

Scheduled Work Hours: Core hours are Monday

  • Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary execution responsibility of Company's corporate treasury function, which includes the cash positioning, cash forecasting and implementation of short-term cash strategy for Evergy and its subsidiaries. This senior or lead analyst level position will report to the Senior Director, Finance, and will help assess, rationalize and refine the processes, systems, and technology that supports the treasury function. This position will help execute short-term borrowing needs, including the commercial paper portfolio, short-term investments and letters of credit. This role will also be responsible for analysis, presentations and reports related to the treasury management function. The successful candidate will perform treasury management tasks, including initiation of electronic payments, the short-term investment/borrowing of funds, and the accounting, journal entries, and record keeping supporting the in-flow and out-flow of funds. The position will also serve as a key point of contact with Evergy's banking partners.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage the calculation of the daily cash position and future day cash forecasts through evaluation of bank balances, interaction with internal divisions, and prioritization of disbursement and collection activity

  • Develops and implements the documentation and policies to satisfy SOX and corporate compliance controls

  • Perform required accounting analysis, entries and record keeping supporting cash transactions

  • Evaluates, recommends, and implements strategies to support Evergy's treasury needs including departmental strategic planning and alternative short-term financing strategies

  • Supports the company's analytics efforts by providing information for rate cases, regulatory filings, financings and other applications including providing short-term cost of capital analysis, accounts receivable securitization analysis and ad-hoc treasury analysis

  • Initiates and manages electronic and check funds transfer activity

  • Performs bank account administration (open/close bank accounts and maintain signers)

  • Reconciliation of cash balances to general ledger accounts

  • Maintenance of treasury data repositories driving accurate financial reporting statistics

  • Ad-hoc corporate treasury and finance projects

  • Manage daily cash application of customer payments to internal customer system

Education and Experience Requirements:

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree (preferably in finance, accounting, or business administration) plus more than 5 years of professional experience in corporate treasury, cash management or banking. The preferred candidate will posses a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Firm understanding of accounting and financial principles and a solid working knowledge of financial statements

  • Confidence in leading meetings, comfort with making decisions and ability to document and respond quickly to inquiries

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Strong ability to communicate with all layers of the organization

  • Ability to quickly manage and resolve conflict; good negotiation and persuasion skills

  • Use of KPI, goal and metric driven work standards and written procedures

  • Able to take initiative to research and ask questions to complete and follow through on open-ended projects with little direction

  • Ability to quickly manage and resolve conflict; good negotiation and persuasion skills

  • Possess strong analytical skills with ability to perform detailed analysis of data and apply logic and reasoning to reach conclusions

  • Exercise sound judgment when making decisions of alternate courses of action

  • Understanding of payment methods and treasury services

  • Treasury Management System (TMS) experience a plus

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) certification preferred

Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) certification preferred

Working Conditions:

May be required to work irregular hours when necessary. Normal office working environment.
