Position Title:Senior Manager Applications

External Description:

The HR Technology team in IT is looking for someone to join our team to help manage and evolve our Workday environment. Reporting to the Director of HR Technology, this position will play a pivotal role in being our Workday expert and managing our Workday footprint.

We manage all our employees and contingent workers within Workday. We deployed globally in 2013 to all our 40+ locations, with full self-service to employees, managers and HR. Our Workday footprint includes:

  • Reporting, Dashboards and Mobile for all

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance for everything Workday.

  • Lead technical initiatives relating to Workday, pushing best practices to the team.

  • Develop strong partnerships with the business and our partners

  • Gain understanding of boundary systems and processes and the HR and IT ecosystem

  • Ensure a strong focus on the employee experience

  • Manage the Workday team and will mentor, guide and actively share knowledge across all team members

Application Management Responsibilities

  • Drive projects from exploration to implementation; provide expertise, guidance, and delivery of projects.

  • Manage and track all enhancement requests; prioritize and manage a timeline for delivery

  • Manage complexity of incoming enhancements and which need to be escalated to the project level.

  • Stay up to date on vendor strategy, new functionality and how we can evolve our investment to improve the experience and functionality

  • Stay versed in the marketplace of other competing technology; where the industry is moving

  • Develop partnerships with outside vendors.

  • Remain up to date in the technology and be EA's SME in Workday.

  • Identify problems, propose solutions, implement

  • Establish best practices; provide governance and decision making for the platform.

  • Analyze existing business processes, Workday configurations, and operational issues to identify potential solutions or gain process efficiency and improve data integrity

Application Support Responsibilities

  • Ensure Routine Tasks, maintenance, and audits are being executed

  • Develop and execute or assign new routine tasks and audits to keep the application performing optimally

  • Respond and resolve system issues and escalations

  • Manage audit and SOX compliance processes and be on point for global audit.

  • Manage end user training, communications, intranet presence collaborating with our business partners.

  • Ensure the security of the application, ensuring careful security administration and compliance

  • Understand health of application; provide metrics and meaningful information for application use

  • Understand work effort and time management of the team; ensure a backup strategy

  • Proactively plan for and execute routine work (shutdowns; holidays; annual events)

  • Evolve our support model, continually tuning it and taking the best advantage of the team and org structures.

  • Provide a high SLA and customer satisfaction with clients.


  • Significant experience in Workday, with experience at an architectural level

  • Management experience within an enterprise level environment

  • Computer Science or closely related degree preferred

  • Expertise in implementation, testing and customization of all Workday HCM Modules

  • Deep knowledge of Workday security, custom reporting, and calculated fields.

  • Good functional understanding of core HR business terminology processes and practices.

  • Expert-level usage of Microsoft Excel experience and proficient in other Microsoft applications

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills with attention to detail; demonstrated problem-solving and multitasking

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated strong customer focus

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize competing priorities

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn

Principle Responsibilities and Duties (including but not limited to the following): * Finished Product/Combination Product Process Development * Lead technology transfers for finished product/combination product manufacturing * Work with CMOs to ensure technology transfer activities (assembled prefilled syringes, autoinjectors, devices, etc.) are executed per process development procedures and best practices * Identify, design, execute, evaluate, and document studies characterizing finished product processes based on solid scientific and engineering principles * Author CMC sections of regulatory submissions * Act as technical point of contact during regulatory agency interactions * Assembly, Labeling, and Packaging Manufacturing * Serve as technical site lead for CMOs and provide subject matter expertise for finished product manufacturing unit operations * Partner with CMOs to ensure successful clinical and commercial cGMP production * Provide technical support to manage deviations, corrective actions, change controls, process monitoring, and process improvements * Quality and Compliance * Ensure corporate standards are met in both quality and compliance with cGMP standards * Ensure compliance with international (ICH, EMA), and U.S. (CFR, FDA, OSHA) regulations and ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures relating to Good Manufacturing Practices, EH&S practices, etc. * Travel as required to domestic and international manufacturing sites * Represent Coherus as person-in-plant during production runs * Coordinate and attend kick-off meetings with finished product CMOs Experience, Education, Training, Traits: * Minimum BS required, degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar field * Minimum of 8 years drug product/combination product experience in the biopharmaceutical industry * Must have knowledge of biologics manufacturing and aseptic processing * Must have experience with drug product and finished product process development * Must have knowledge of applicable Quality and Regulatory guidelines including combination product and device development design controls * Prior experience managing third party CMO relationships and as person-in-plant during manufacturing runs * Must have strong decision-making, leadership, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with external partners, peers, and senior management * Must work well in cross-functional teams * Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% * Must have strong computer skills, including MS Office applications * Experience with statistical software such as JMP or Minitab desirable Coherus Biosciences Redwood City CA
