Description:
Serves as a technical resource for multiple components of the infrastructure, able to resolve most problems/issues in their area(s)of expertise. In stills a sense of vision and direction in teams and creates a positive work environment that leverages the strengths of members.
When provided with an objective to improve performance in their area(s) of technology, develops and implements action plans needed to effect the change. Receives performance data and analyses the performance of installed technologies. Proposes and implements any required changes, including identifying and planning for any resulting impacts on other technologies.
Provides technical expertise to project teams and/or leads teams to complete projects specific to their area(s) of expertise. Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting for installed technical solutions.
Develops highly sophisticated technology plans that require integration of multiple technologies, addressing the interrelationships of multiple systems, and serving diverse clients. Assesses, proactively, the trends in business functions and the impact on the IT architecture: Anticipates changes and needs to effectively plan for the future of the multiple technologies supported.
Proposes new technologies, new technical and architectural strategies, and new processes to meet business challenges, in full consideration of their costs and benefits.

Speck's Mechanical Engineer will be a crucial contributor in our development and engineering team as we continue grow and expand our product offerings. This position will have a mix of new product engineering, sustaining engineering, and innovation projects. The Engineering group works closely with our Development, Design, Product Marketing and Operations teams, while partnering with our external supply chain vendors. Key Responsibilities: * Conceptualize, develop and launch new innovate products across a variety of different product categories. * Collaborate with product industrial design team to determine product styling, design for manufacturability and user ergonomics. * Hands-on Enclosure/Parts mechanical architecture design, analysis, documentation and functional validation of mechanical components and assemblies for a variety of accessory products. * Develop the 3D CAD, files, and 2D documentation to accurately represent Speck products per our design and development processes. * Ensure successful development of production parts with your knowledge, and understanding of materials, part manufacturing methodologies, injection modeling, and rapid prototyping methods. * Provide expertise on plastic injection molding and rapid prototyping methods. * Consult, influence and negotiate with vendors on project plans, manufacturability, and new product launches. * Work with TPE materials, part manufacturing methodologies and processes. * Travel internationally to vendors for new product launches and some sustainment activities. International Travel is required and may be from 10% to 15% of your time. Position Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. * Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical parts/assembly design for high volume consumer electronics devices, accessories, or consumer products desired. * Strong 3D CAD / 2D Drawings skills; Pro/E WF5, Creo 2.0 preferred. Solid works will also be considered. * Experience in surface creation is a plus. * Experience taking a product from concept to launch strongly desired. * Experience and knowledge of plastic injection molding and soft good development desired. * Able to prepare, read, analyze, and interpret common technical and manufacturing documents. * Demonstrated and in depth understanding of design tolerance and dimensioning. * Excellent problem-solving skills and root cause analysis. * A plus to have experience and knowledge regarding integrated electronics. * Positive and fun outlook with the ability to meet the needs of an ever changing industry and tight project deadlines.
