Compensation
Compensation includes a base salary of $97,100.00 - $161,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Job Description
The Sr. UX Architect is responsible for supporting formative discovery and research activities to understand our end users and their goals. They also translate product goals and user goals into intuitive design structures. Additionally, they communicate functional design to the implementation team and are metric-sensitive, understanding that success is based on achieving both client satisfaction and revenue goals.
The successful candidate for this role should have a portfolio that demonstrates a depth of experience in UX design for digital applications, including complex, data-driven websites, daily use products, and mobile apps. They should be able to translate interaction design concepts consistently across platforms (e.g., desktop, tablet, mobile) while respecting each platform's unique interactions and optimizing its benefits.
The Sr. Architect will leverage Interstate, Cox Automotive's Design System, as appropriate to ensure a familiar user experience across products. They may also develop new components and design patterns and shepherd them through Interstate's submission and approval process. Additionally, they will aid in mentoring junior, mid, and senior UX Architects within the team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Some of the responsibilities of the Sr. UX Architect include:
Developing a deep understanding of target clients and their business needs.
Examining web analytics to inform user interactions and designs.
Establishing collaborative working relationships with UX research, Product Management, UX Content, Business, and Engineering team members to ensure the delivery of a highly usable product that generates positive business return.
Facilitating product design planning and tasks with the Product team.
Leading the translation of business requirements into simple, highly usable, and compelling interface layouts, defining how the user interacts with site functionality.
Creating wireframes and interactive mock-ups/prototypes (lo/high fidelity) and integrating personas/segmentations with related deliverables.
Ensuring the familiarity of the overall user interface and individual components can be extended and reused.
Collaborating with engineering teams to determine data accessibility and understand technology constraints/advantages for the design structure to ensure products meet performance, scalability, and reliability goals.
Serving as the primary point-of-contact/facilitator for User Experience on assigned projects.
Identifying opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience based on research.
Supporting usability testing by creating working prototypes.
Creating and supporting the information architecture of navigation, content, etc.
Designing for mobile devices, with native and responsive design experience required.
Identifying strategic opportunities for competitive advantage.
Designing navigational schema based on user needs, content models, and technical constraints.
Championing user needs and product usability while balancing business and technical constraints.
Articulating the rationale behind interface decisions and how to prioritize interface features.
Assisting in the ongoing definition of Cox Automotive's evolving user experience standards in the interactive space.
WHO YOU ARE
Some of the required qualifications for this role include:
Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
Expertise in user-centered design methods, techniques, and principles.
Project experience in working with teams on large-scale, long-term projects.
Proven ability to produce user experience documentation, such as storyboards, user scenarios/tasks, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, etc. (portfolio required).
Proficiency to expert use of design tools such as Figma.
Interest in human beings, their behaviors, and limitations, with the ability to think like our users.
Ability to establish user experience methodology, processes, estimates, and deliverables for a project.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Group facilitation experience required.
Ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously.
Superb organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects of varying size and complexity, prioritizing time and tasks to meet aggressive deadlines.
Ability to make intuitive leaps to hypothesize product design solutions.
Ability to understand the big picture while paying attention to fine detail.
Ability to convincingly articulate ideas and rationale across the company, including the executive suite.
Ability to deal with ambiguity.
Knowledge of what's possible in the digital space.
Avid learner who stays up to date on the latest trends and research in product design, SEO, and web/mobile technologies.
Ability to work individually with minimal supervision/mentoring and as a team.
Ability to work across multiple internal business units and companies.
Experience with A/B experimentation is a plus.
