A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Senior User Experience Researcher I leads the conceptualization and design of user experience research studies across Tandem's existing product portfolio and future product roadmap. Day-to-day, this role works closely with many cross-functional partners, including UX Design, Product Management, Technical Product Owners, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Regulatory, and Commercial Product Marketing in both the research planning phases as well as in the sharing of insights from executed studies. The Senior User Experience Researcher I is expected to use a variety of research methodologies in the design of studies and use storytelling to communicate research findings in an engaging and actionable way to cross-functional partners. This role will be a mix of in-office work at our HQ in Del Mar, CA and remote work. This position is expected to be in office 2 days per week with ideally at least one of those being Tuesday or Wednesday to overlap with other team members.

A Sr. User Experience Researcher at Tandem:

  • Conducts the user experience research component of product development, with a particular focus on early generative UX research.

  • Defines, plans, and conducts qualitative and quantitative research studies, documenting responses and results. Coordinates multi-site studies with outside vendors.

  • Tells compelling user stories with data. Analyzes user research data and synthesizes the data into actionable insights and design recommendations.

  • Determines user needs by conducting task-focused analyses.

  • Works closely with the product and design teams to identify research goals and objectives and develop research plans accordingly.

  • Acts as a departmental liaison for UX Research in cross-functional meetings.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand business questions, project requirements, and ensure final scoped project aligns with business and product goals.

  • Communicates quantitative and qualitative data and user insights to various stakeholders in the organization including senior leadership.

  • Supports lifecycle management of products from ideation, development, and commercialization for all Tandem products across different product portfolios; drives for innovation in all aspects of product development.

  • Leads the creation of and maintaining user personas, user journey maps, and other user-centered design artifacts.

  • Stays abreast of current technologies with the ability to incorporate them into the strategic direction of Tandem products.

  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.

YOU'RE AWESOME AT:

  • Strong methodological practice, with ability to design studies using the best method for the research questions at hand and explain why this method is best.

  • Excellent study moderation skills, in one-on-one in-depth interviews and in focus groups

  • Excellence in note taking and documentation during all phases of a study (i.e., from intake to design to sharing of insights).

  • Excellent time and project management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and flexibility to function in a fast paced and innovative environment.

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify and implement appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to communicate with and persuade others, at all levels of the organization, through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant data driven information.

  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for effective management reporting and presentation.

  • Acts as a UX research champion and the voice of the patient across the entire organization.

YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Experimental Psychology or Human-Computer Interaction strongly preferred.

  • 5 plus years of experience conducting user research.

  • Experience working with common software tools in UX research (e.g., Morae, SPSS, Visio, Adobe Photoshop, MS Excel)

  • 1 year medical device industry experience preferred.

  • Understanding and/or significant experience with diabetes disease management preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $143,500 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts.
