Our client is looking for a
Senior Underwriter - Commercial Auto.

Responsibilities:

Underwrite Commercial Auto new and renewal accounts. Using applications, inspection reports, past claims history, endorsements, specific to determine of risk from such factors as business operations, mileage, loss experience, equipment schedules, financials, and MVR/driver acceptability. Manage a book of transportation business underwriting standards and profitability. Develop and maintain positive relationships with agencies.

Education, Experience, Knowledge

Skills:
  • Bachelors Degree

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, attention to

  • Detail, Thoroughness, Decision Making, Microsoft Excel, data entry skills, the ability to work as part of a team

  • Time management skills

  • Independence Knowledge of the wholesale industry and have a minimum of five years underwriting transportation accounts

  • Experience with ISO rating and forms

  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers

By building upon your foundational underwriting skills you will represent a team with industry leading product offerings in the lead umbrella and excess casualty space. The successful candidate will make meaningful contributions to the profitable production and underwriting of Excess Casualty business in North America. Reporting to the Underwriting Manager, the position will contribute to the successful execution of the business' strategic plan, including excellent service standards. What will your essential responsibilities include? * The candidate will handle both new and renewal business in the Southeast Region, encompassing Pennsylvania to Florida. This includes: * Market and solicit new business opportunities from retail broker partners. * Analyze submission data including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account. * Utilize underwriting tools including exposure, experience and industry ratings to analyze complex casualty exposure. * Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to regional management, home office and chief underwriting officers. * Collaborate with internal colleagues in the assessment of current and prospective risks, including actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering. * Pro-active service of business in conjunction with our Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements. * Cross-sell with other business units including primary casualty, property and other professional lines to maximize deployment of AXA XL's capital. * Monitor trends within the Marketplace to ensure we stay aware and ahead of emerging issues. * Contribute to regional planning through the development and execution of your own annual desk-level underwriting plan. * Travel throughout the territory (20%) for client, broker and internal meetings. We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: * >7 years of progressive underwriting experience, including umbrella & excess casualty. * Strong relationships within National and Regional brokerages in the assigned territory. * Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and contracts. * Experience working hands-on with actuarial colleagues. * Strong project and time-management skills. * Effective sales, marketing and negotiation skills. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
