Honda's North American headquarters is looking for an experienced transfer pricing professional to join our tax department in Torrance, CA. Reporting to the head of transfer pricing in North America, this high profile role entails the performance and management of critical economic analyses, liaison with our foreign and domestic subsidiaries, and with foreign affiliates around the world, and the management of key aspects of our transfer pricing and international tax planning and compliance activities, including oversight responsibility for the work of two in-house specialists, temporary contractors, and external advisors.


  • Develop, update and maintain transfer pricing analysis models

  • Manage, direct, oversee and execute economic and regulatory analyses relating to transfer pricing projects and inquiries by tax authorities

  • Defend Honda's transfer pricing and international tax positions in audits by the tax authorities and financial statements auditors

  • Manage, direct and coordinate the work of external advisors, internal resources, and temporary contractors

  • Coordinate with affiliates around the world on transfer pricing compliance and planning matters

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of key parts of contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation reports, including the gathering and compilation of tested party data, preparation benchmarking analyses, conduct functional interviews and analyses, and review reports.

  • Oversee the compilation and reporting of Country-by-Country data

  • Manage application of transfer pricing policies; adjust and develop policies when needed; provide technical advice to business areas with respect to transfer pricing

  • Oversee planning and compliance efforts on transfer pricing and international tax matters

  • Review forms and calculations with respect to international tax compliance

  • Prepare ASC 740 analyses and position documentation

  • Review, update, implement and maintain intercompany agreements

  • BA or BS in Economics, Business, Finance or Accounting. Advanced degree in such areas and/or CPA strongly preferred.

  • 8 years of relevant transfer pricing experience with an accounting firm, law firm or large multinational corporation.

  • Strong technical knowledge of IRC 482 regulations and OECD guidelines.

  • Experience with transfer pricing documentation and advance pricing agreements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Ability to process information that may be voluminous and complex, and to summarize it accurately in reports and memoranda.

  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills; excellent MS-Excel skills, ability to prepare and maintain complex models and work papers.

  • Ability to follow established processes, meet tight deadlines and handle work load peaks during our quarterly and year-end close, and tax return filing cycles.

  • Ability to multi-task and to adapt to a fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple parties, seek reconciliation of conflicting interests to reach consensual decisions, and to be effective in a team environment
