Senior Trainer/Principal Trainer USMA Field Medical Team

Develops and executes the USMA Field Medical Team training curriculum, based on in-depth functional expertise and field-related experience, in line with identified business needs and in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders/partners, to ensure that high quality training materials and programs are developed and delivered to achieve learning goals and create business impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Training and development needs

  • Determines training and development needs based on business objectives, identifies gaps in training content and strategy, in order to gather input for training plan and program development and delivery.

Training program development

  • Develops training programs, models and facilitation guides, in liaison with internal SMEs and external vendors, to ensure high quality training content.

Training delivery

  • Leads the delivery of training programs and initiatives in line with T&D standards and operational objectives, to fulfill business needs and drive effectiveness of Genentech employees.

Partnership

  • Engages leadership at a senior level, establishes partnerships across the organization and aligns with leadership to set training priorities, to ensure that training objectives are aligned with business objectives, vision and strategy.

Expertise development

  • Acts as a Genentech and T&D expert in own area of expertise, ensures that knowledge is exchanged between colleagues and external stakeholders and leads knowledge transfer in the organization, to ensure that the level of knowledge in the organization is adequate and can be translated into practice.

Compliance training requirements

  • Completes all compliance training requirements and reinforces the importance of adhering to compliance policies with the team.

At the Principal level:

Incumbents in the Principal Trainer role are expected to demonstrate a higher level of leadership, impact and experience than what is expected in the Sr. Trainer role. They are expected to:

  • Develops a training vision for own field of expertise in alignment with organizational strategies

  • Works with higher-level stakeholder management that may have conflicting interests and for which the training needs are less clear

  • Acts as a true expert and leads the development of new training

  • Serves as a role model for other team members

Qualifications & Experience:

Professional Experience

Senior Trainer

  • Bachelor's Degree is required

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant professional experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries

  • Previous field experience in sales or customer facing role is preferred

Principal Trainer

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; graduate level or higher degree is preferred

  • 10 or more years' experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries is required

  • Management experience is preferred

  • Field management experience is strongly preferred (TA roles)

Skills & proficiencies

Senior Trainer

  • Ability to work with ambiguity is required

  • Passion for coaching and training is a must

  • Experience with group facilitation in a professional setting

  • In-depth knowledge of multiple training topics is required

  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with instructional design

  • Strong stakeholder skills are required to create and evolve training to meet business needs

  • Able to influence without authority across CMG Training & Development and key stakeholder groups

Principal Trainer

  • Proven track record in meeting or exceeding assigned objectives

  • Strong stakeholder and influencing skills are required to create and evolve training to meet business needs and influence without authority across CMG Training & Development and key stakeholder groups

  • Ability to work with ambiguity is required

  • Demonstrated ability to display a high degree of customer-focused sensitivity toward internal and external customers and business partners

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills

  • Passion for coaching and training is a must

  • Deep knowledge of and extensive experience within USMA field training in a professional environment is required

Business travel by air or car is required for regular internal and external business meetings

Must live in the San Francisco Bay area

Package Handlers (PHs) may be assigned to or rotate through various areas and positions such as Loader, Unloader, Scan Weigh and Key (SWAK), Quality Assurance (QA), Facer, Switcher, etc. In addition to the above general responsibilities and the other duties as assigned by management, the following PH assignments require specialized training and/or responsibilities: * Package Handler Trainer: Trains other PHs on loading, unloading and scanning techniques in order to ensure efficient and safe movement of packages through the operation. Essential Functions * Utilizes "hand-to-surface" methods for all package handling. * Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyor system carts and load gratings. * Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shifts of two to four hours. * Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorts packages accordingly. In addition to the above essential functions, the following PH assignments have additional essential functions as follows: Additional Package Handler Trainer essential functions: * Trains new PHs in effective package handling techniques. * Provides training to other PHs who are in need of additional instruction on effective package handling techniques, as determined by management. * Provides feedback on proper package handling techniques, as needed. * Reinforces among peer PHs all dock safety standards. * Understands and demonstrates by example all necessary processes and procedures. * Updates managers on conditions during the sort so operation efficiency decisions can be made. * Assists in the implementation of new package handling procedures and techniques. * Regularly loads/unloads, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages while training other PHs. Minimum Education * None Minimum Experience The following specialized assignments have required/preferred PH experience with FedEx Ground: * PH Trainer: Six (6) months of experience required as a PH with FedEx Ground. Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure * Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods. * Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly. * Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment. * PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver's license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file. * PH Trainer: Ability to train multiple peer PHs simultaneously.
