SUMMARY:
The Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for creating, executing, and reporting on product compliance and environmental testing. This role involves maintaining laboratory procedures, equipment, and schedules to ensure compliance. Additionally, the engineer will represent product compliance and assurance within product development teams.
DUTIES:
Determines and implements the methodologies for analyzing and testing new and existing product conformance to environmental, regulatory, and customer standards.
Ensures test activities and deliverables comply with pertinent standards and regulatory requirements.
Manages and schedules compliance and environmental testing and evaluations and executes in a timely basis in response to department and business unit needs.
Performs and/or contracts for environmental, specification compliance tests and evaluations at the system, product, and component level for all product lines.
Testing may include, but is not limited to, the following: Radiates Emissions, Conducted Emissions, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Radiated Immunity, Electrical Fast-Transient Burst, Lightning Surge, Conducted Immunity, Magnetic Fields, Voltage Dips and Interrupts, Flicker, Harmonics, transportation, thermal, humidity, vibration, and mechanical shock. Ensure testing is comprehensive, correctly executed, and all failure modes are identified and documented.
Maintains laboratory equipment, including preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair. Manages equipment maintenance and repair contracts with external suppliers as required.
Works with outside compliance laboratories to effect testing and reporting. Works with procurement on purchase order content and finance on payments to these outside laboratories.
Provides feedback to design engineering and/or other affected departments on product problems disclosed during testing, including probable cause, and recommended or required actions to be taken.
Represents PC&A function in Product Development and Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes.
Performs other duties and assignments within the QA organization as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BSEE degree or equivalent, and five to ten years of compliance test related experience.
Medical device or similarly regulated industry experience desired.
