Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Environmental Science, other fields of Science or Mathematics
Storm Water Industrial Certified
Knowledgeable of coal laboratory analysis
Knowledgeable of Mills Fineness tests and sampling techniques
Knowledgeable of Ion Chromatograph testing techniques
Knowledgeable of Fossil Fuel Plants boiler water chemistry
Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills
Familiarity with the thermodynamic steam cycle, power plant system components as well as environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance
Knowledge of analytical laboratory equipment and instrumentation, mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, etc.), and high quality water production (RO, ion exchange, filtration)
Fit Respirator tested for APR respirator and or SCBA
Under direct supervision, the Technician performs a variety of standard/routine tasks and technical work following established procedures. Tasks performed may include collecting/calculating data; basic testing in the field of specialization; maintaining and repairing less complex equipment; calibrating instruments; preparing engineering drawings, maps, finished drawings, graphic exhibits (utilizing the appropriate electrical, mechanical or civil engineering design theory); environmental testing; developing and troubleshooting computer systems; laboratory testing; and performing standard calculations/calibrations in an accurate manner using established scientific formulae. In short, the Technician would complete tasks within standard practices and procedures, while seeking advice of senior employees/supervisors on unusual situations. The Technician may assist in analysis/design of more complex projects.
Meet travel requirements of the position. Work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.
