The machine learning and artificial intelligence writers at Databricks work daily on the cutting edge of new tools for AI development. You will apply your considerable writing, data, and other technical skills to create compelling content that shows data scientists, data engineers, and data analysts how to use Databricks to realize their biggest data analytics, machine learning, and AI opportunities.
To succeed in this role, you have a technical background in data science and/or data engineering. You are passionate about instructional writing, with a focus on clarity, straightforward storytelling, and an information architect's approach to organizing material. The work is going to come fast and furious, but you'll never let up on your attention to detail or your advocacy for the customer. The impact you will have
Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to develop effective, customer-focused documentation.
Collaborate closely with customer-facing technical staff (support engineers, solutions architects, developer relations) on best practices, onboarding material, and other scenario-based guidance.
Help drive an information-architecture approach to organizing content based on customer use cases.
Help us continually improve our authoring and production tools and processes.
Edit content contributed by engineering and the field for technical accuracy, grammar, usage, adherence to style, and fit within information architecture.
Manage contributed articles through technical review, content edits, and publication.
Use your skills in media to create videos and diagrams that help customers quickly grasp concepts and workflows in data science.
What we look for
4+ years documenting sophisticated technologies for developers and IT professionals, or equivalent work experience (for example, as a software developer, product manager, or solutions architect).
Strong cross-functional collaboration and professional communication skills.
Mastery of technical writing tools and style: consistent voice, straightforward and lively style, and understanding of the rules of grammar and usage.
Experience working with data products.
Experience working with cloud platforms.
Demonstrated understanding of information architecture concepts and how to apply them to a constantly changing website.
Proven project management skills.
Proficiency in Markdown-style formats with Git and GitHub.
Strong analytical skills with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Experience using data and customer feedback to drive decision-making.
Nice to have
Experience creating instructional video and visual media, such as animated GIFS and diagrams.
Hands-on experience with AI and machine learning techniques, such as model training and data preparation.
Working knowledge of Python in data science.
