As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, engineers, you will develop the tooling, jigs, and fixtures used to test, manufacture, and assemble space and launch vehicles. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the manufacturing by providing rapid tooling support for emergent production needs. You will work directly with the manufacturing team to create, test, and troubleshoot new tooling and processes. You will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and integrating tooling and ground support equipment. You will also represent your system(s) in cross-functional trades and impact studies for architectures and vehicles that you support. You should expect that this foundational part of our vision will require your excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify CAD models of mechanical components, tools, fixtures, jigs, structures, mechanisms, and all GSE hardware for rapid prototyping and production in Creo/CATIA & Windchill.

  • Create and modify drawings from CAD models of designs of metallic and composite materials.

  • Create piping and routing for fluid systems drawings including GD&T annotations.

  • Create models and drawings of components, joints, and assemblies.

  • Deliver clean geometry suitable for creating finite element models.

  • Incorporate drawing standards based on the company, program, and industry standards.

  • Perform model and drawing check activities during release reviews.

  • Support external design and fabrication partners through complete project lifecycle to ensure GSE is functionally correct and meets the requirements set forth in specifications.

  • Participate in GSE and tooling manufacturing, operational, and program technical reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in mechanical Design, Industrial Design, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Product Design, Tooling Design, or related subject area.

  • Successful candidates in this role typically have 7+ years of related design experience.

  • Experience with space, aerospace, automotive, or launch vehicles structures and mechanisms.

  • Experience in designing tools, jigs, fixtures, structures, and mechanisms.

  • Proficiency in CAD programs (preferred Creo & Windchill).

  • Proficient in standard fits, tolerance stack, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).

  • Strong experience in drawing generation, checking, and release process.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Preferred experience working on GSE and tooling in aerospace industry.

  • Preferred experience with hands on fabrication, assembly, or maintenance operations.

  • Experience with revision control and data configuration in Windchill.

  • Experience in selecting standard aerospace hardware (fasteners, bushings, washers, pins, etc.).

  • Experience in working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
